Hotel Near Northern Illinois University Art Museum

Culture is alive and well in Northern Illinois and can be seen at the Northern Illinois University Art Museum. Comfort is alive and well in Northern Illinois and can be experienced at the Comfort Inn and Suites, Rochelle, Il hotel. This spring the NIU Art Museum offers you the chance to understand the importance of comics, caricatures, graphic novels and wordless picture books from Francisco Goya to today.

Two amazing exhibits are offered up as a feast for the eyes and mind at the Northern Illinois University Art Museum. Often overlooked as childish or unsophisticated see the true sophistication of graphic novels with the exhibit Graphic Novel Realism: Backstage at the Comic. View finished works and source materials the artists use to inspire their rich stories. Paired with this exhibit is one showcasing the representative darkness of human society with the exhibit Francisco Goya: Satirical Caprices. Goya shows the viewer the dregs of late 18 century society with a series of “metaphoric caricatures.” These two exhibits make an amazing diptych showing off the beautiful and sometimes terrifying blend that realism and symbolism can accomplish together.

After a day of contemplating the nature of aesthetics, unwind and relax at the Comfort Inn and Suites, Rochelle, IL.
