It backs up to the Byron Forest Preserve District's restored prairie. According to Prairie Views website the course was rated four and half stars by Chicagoland Golf magazine.

The course has hosted the Illinois State Amateur Qualifier, The Western Amateur Qualifier, the Illinois Junior Golf Association tournament and other Collegiate golf tournaments.
